Admission

Enrollment Form Rental Agreement Parental Consent Form Non US Citizens Foreign License Conversion

Admission for Flight Training is simple, but there are a couple of rules and regulations you need to follow, before you can start your courses. For Aircraft Rental or Hour Building you just need a medical, an appropriate rating and a valid BFR. Other than that, there are no visa or TSA requirements for rentals.

FAA Requirements
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sets the following age requirements for pilot training: Solo Flights you must be at least 16 years, for a Private Pilot License you must be at least 17 years and for a Commercial you must be at least 18 years old. You certainly may start your training at an earlier age but you always have to fly with an instructor. You must be able to speak and understand the English language and have an appropriate medical certificate for your intended course.

Applicants who are less than 18 years old need to submit a Parental Consent Form (see above PDF file).

TSA Requirements
The Transport Safety Administration (TSA) calls either for proof of US citizenship (passport or birth certificate) or you need to go through a background check procedure. Read above PDF file for "Non US Citizens" for more information. TSA clearance is only required for the following training courses: PPL, IFR and MULTI. Aircraft Rentals do not require a TSA clearance regardless if you are a US citizen or not. But you need a valid US license to fly a N-registered aircraft. (All US matriculated aircraft are identified with the starting letter 'N').

Foreign License Conversion
Foreign Pilot Licenses for the PPL and IFR can easily be converted as long as your Licenese comes from an ICAO member country. For the PPL you just need to go through the required paperwork while the IFR conversion requests a written Instrument Exam. Read more in the above PDF file.
